As the Easter holiday nears, why not give out Hawaiian and tropical themed Easter gifts as something that has that extra special touch? Here are some great ideas on how to make your gifts carry on the “island spirit”.
Flowers are commonly associated with Easter, so why not give flowers or plants connected with the Hawaiian Islands? Not only are these unique and exotic flowers and plants just beautiful to see, but the fragrance can be quite amazing. For example, think maybe of giving orchids, heliconia (a tropical plant, which some in beautiful hues of reds and oranges), or perhaps plumeria (a shrub with sweet smelling flowers). Out of the three, I would give a plumeria shrub as it is reasonably priced and the fragrance can not be beat.
Eggs are also associated with the Easter holiday, so why not decorate your eggs Hawaiian style? Children would love this project of dyeing the eggs using bright and colorful colors. Next, using stickers or even stencils that have a tropical theme to them, decorate the Easter eggs.
Pineapples, totem poles, hula dancers, geckos or a tiki-like face are great ideas to get you started. Also, if you are creative enough, try painting them on the eggs. You could assemble a cute dozen and give them out as a gift.
Baskets are another item that I think of when Easter comes around. On many tropical islands, they hand make their own baskets. Try special ordering one online, or if you are crafty enough try and make one on your own. Once you have the tropical basket, try filling it up with fresh pineapples, or even a tropical plant and then pass it on to your recipient!
There is always something sweet to eat at my family’s table when all have finished with their Easter dinner. Check out your local bakery and what they may have to choose from that may have some of that island flavor.
Maybe a macadamia rum cake will suit your sweet tooth on Easter Sunday. If your neighborhood bakery does not offer too much, try finding some Hawaiian recipes online, for example for Hawaiian baked bread. Something homemade and from the heart would make a great gift on Easter.
