Long Term Hilo, Big Island Car Rentals at Hawaii-Cars.com and other Companies
If you are planning a month or so vacation on the Big Island of Hawaii and need to rent a car for a long time – we don’t have a “rent a wreck” company here but you can get decent used, long-term car rentals in Hilo, with cheaper rates the longer you rent for at Hawaii-Cars.com. Rates will probably be lower than if you went with one of the major rental companies like Dollar or Budget.
A couple more companies I have found for this are Advanced Auto at 14-D Holomua St., and Harpers at 456 Kalanianaole Street.
So, if you are staying in Hilo or Puna (plenty of long-term vacation rentals here in subdivisions like Paradise Park and Hawaiian Beaches) or anywhere along the Hamakua Coast like Honokaa or Pauuilo check them out. Kailua-Kona is kind of far for these guys but I don’t think Kona has something comparable yet. Waimea is an hours drive and Volcano is a 45 minute drive from here. Kau (punaluu, pahala, naalehu) is an hour and a half.
