hi-sunset2If you are flying in to Honolulu or Waikiki, you are flying to the island of Oahu. There is only one airport on Oahu, and that is the Honolulu International Airport (airport code is HNL). This is the main hub of all the islands and flights come in daily from all over the world, especially the mainland U.S. and Japan.

You can fly Direct to Honolulu or Waikiki (Oahu) from Anywhere on the mainland U.S., although you may have to stop to refuel if you are coming from the East coast. Flights from California will take around 5 hours.

  • Best Prices and Cheapest Flights to Honolulu and Waikiki

When I am flying, in order to get the best prices, I like to check an airfare comparison engine like Expedia because if I input my dates and locations, it will give me an easy-to-read layout of who is flying there when, what their prices are, and how many stops they are making.

This instantly gives me an idea of what the going rate is. I will likely start checking prices as soon as I know about when we are planning on going and keep watching them. This is the best way to jump on a deal or a discount if one shows up. If you’ve been watcing prices for a week then you know what the going rate is and you know if something is a good deal or not.

I love to bid on hotel rooms, but did you know that you can bid on airfare too? I recommend you find out what the going rate is on your desired flights, then bid 50% of that on priceline if you are willing to fly at any time. If your bid is not accepted, go up in $50 increments and see what you can get.

I have seen bids accepted as low as $250 from LAX to HNL. This is normally a minimum of a $400 flight.
